Life is good

Ahhh.. so much to tell, so much I've seen. We went to Parque Retiro today! Finally, after 3 weeks haha. It was so beautiful but we should have been there yesterday - when it was TWENTY FIVE degrees!! I couldn't believe it we were sitting in the garden having lunch with summer clothes on! That's how we like it ;)

Maria and her dad.. her favourite dish was the spinach (?!) haha weird kid!

Today was not as warm unfortunately but we still went to the park to chill and have a picnic. Met up with Paula and 2x german chicas Melanie and Marie. They brought pizza!!! And ooohh strawberries! They were so good and SO RED and it's february, I can't believe it!

It was still really sunny though so the pictures turned out great!! I just heard from my mom it's been snowing in Denmark! I don't miss home haha!

Me at the lake in the park! Sooo pretty :) I wanna go there again when the weather is warmer it will probably be PACKED. It kinda was today too though. Everywhere you go in Madrid it's packed with people it's crazy.

When it was too cold to sit there, me and Paula continued to McDonald's.. The one on Gran Vía is soo big! And they have their own McCafé, which is so cool we don't have that in Denmark! They had so many pastries and cakes and types of coffees to choose from it was amazing. I had a mocha frappé with whipped cream it was gooddddd..

Yesterday Paula had her iPhone stolen :(! We were just walking around Sol doing a little shopping and when we came out of a shop she noticed her bag had been opened and her phone was gone! This sucks - and exactly the same thing happened to me last time I was here in Madrid :( Anyways, we went back to my house and chilled. Maria and her friend Alejandra brought us pizza, coke, nestea, flan and pringles! That was sooo sweet :)

I LOVE THIS!!

Summer is here

Awesome weather today! Got home to a small surprise.. TURTLES! There was a turtle sitting up against the glass doors to the garden so I thought wtf and took it inside and gave it some salad. (they eat salad leaves right?) Anyways, then the power in the whole house shut down and I couldn't turn it back on so I was panicking because what will happen to all the delicious food in the fridge! :O and what about the freezer!! Oh my.. but then I managed to pull the right switch and saved the day. Back to the turtle, I called my host-mum and asked what to do about it and she just said it was normal for turtles to run freely in the gardens..? Seriously, is this normal? Aw, but then I took it back outside and 30secs later there was two of them!

Cute :)

After school we went to Mantaditos again, how shocking right ;) We just can't resist hot-dogs and beer for 1 euro!! We sat outside and it was sooo warm, it's finally spring! I love this.

This restaurant is actually located on a street filled with prostitutes haha (c/ Montera) , so while eating we were checking them out and discussing who looked the best and who probably gets the most costumers. That was fun. My favourite was this fat chick with a short pink dress and her booty hanging out. Hot.

(I keep forgetting my sunglasses, this squinting eye look does not work for me)

Childish

I am beginnig to act like an 8-year old around the little girl Maria haha. Just before, we played this kids version of domino, BENDomino, where the tiles are curvy and you go in circles and it's all different colours :P And we had these juice/milk-drinks, which are pretty good actually haha! They're half milk half juice I think but you can't really taste the milk it's interesting... Anyways, today I went to class I'm feeling better yay! We learned how to describe what another person is wearing, and I forgot what my homework for tommorrow is. Hm.

While I was waiting for Paula to finish class I drew this cool rasta guy. It looks a bit like a guy that goes to our school and he was actually standing next to me at one point and saw my drawing haha. I hope he didn't think I was drawing him..

I've also started to eat aloottt of cookies, which I never do but how can you resist MINI OREOSSS!?! They are so cute I just keep stuffing them in my mouth, I think I ate like 30 of them today.. mmmmm

Today was actually nice and sunny, until 3 o'clock that is, but still nice! We walked a bit around the centre again and went to MONTADITOS. I think we go there like 3 times a week, but hey - sandwiches for 1 euro! They're pretty small so we order a bunch of them but they're good!! And they come with chips ;)

I smell food downstairs..

Sick already?!

Wow, I hate this. The past 3 days my stomach has been hurting, but last night was the worst. Worst. Stomach. Ache. EVER. It hurt so bad, at one point I thought I was gonna explode. The family didn't know what to do and didn't have any drugs, so they just started panicking and that didn't really help.. In the end the Dad drove to the pharmacy and came back with some liquid medicin stuff I have to drink. And the whole day today I wasn't supposed to eat anything. I was so hungry though, I ate some gummybears I had secretly stashed in my room haha. So now I'm a little better, I actually wanna go to school tommorrow, staying at home is boring!

I was actually recovering yesterday, and was feeling good most of the day so I decided to celebrate by eating tacos, pasta bolognese, ice cream, beer, candy.. all sorts of shit so that for sure only made it worse haha.. oh well, the tacos were really good we got them at this TINY place (literally there's room for 6 people), near SOL or Plaza Major or something.. anyways they were yummy and I'm going back once this sickness is over ;)

Enough about this stupid stomach virus.. Today I figured out the washing machine haha. It's actually really simple, it was a bit embarrassing asking for help. One step at a time, right?

Productive

Woke up at 9:00 today against my will, but at least I got a good 10 hours of sleep so I'm happy. But IT'S BEEN RAINING NON-STOP and I'm not even kidding, I tried to take a picture of the rain but it's raining so much that it didn't even show up on camera! It's crazy.. So anyways, I decided to finally change my sheets and clean up a bit as my room was getting a bit disgusting. I'm so proud of myself it turned out so pretty :) LOOK!

It wasn't as pretty before, but it could have been worse ;)

And yes, my suitcase is this still in my room. I don't have room in my closet for all the crap I brought haha.

Oh, and the discovery of the day; or it's actually more of an organizing tip but here goes..
Necklaces on a hanger! Win win win, this way they don't get tangled up and I think it look prettyyy :)

Can you guess which is my favourite necklace ;)? haha.. oh GOD, I'm going crazy there are four 8-year old girls running around the house screaming and eating candy. Now they're mixing candy hearts with water and drinking it. Ew.

I got paid today so I wanna go out but the waether is seriously shit. It looks awful I don't even wanna go outside my bedroom. But I probably should, it's a shame staying at home when you live in Spain ;)

Adios bitches

Blah

That's how I'll describe my day so far. I had some different things planned, but I just stayed at home feeling like shit. My stupid stomach keeps hurting and I don't know why. I tried to google stomach ache but some pretty weird stuff came up - like pregnancy outside the uterus.. I really don't think that's it.

I've been playing with the cat and now she won't leave me alone. She's so cute and fat though that I don't mind. Oh and the discovery of the day:
Microwaved eggs - instant breakfast! Throw some bacon in there and it's a double win.

Just take a bowl, some eggs, milk, salt, pepper whatever and mix it with a fork and put it in the microwave, stirring it after like 45secs. And then another 30secs maybe, and you have scrambled eggs. That's genious. I'm already hungry again though, I even had 3 pieces of toast to go with it. I could eat some KFC.

As the geek I am, I took some pictures, mainly to show Paula haha..

TADAAAH! I bet no one else made that cool of a discovery today..

xoxo

PS. I noticed that the egg yolks are very very orange over here

Things you didn't know about Spain..

Since I first arrived I've seen some pretty weird things. First of all, what's with the JAMÓN obsession!?
If you don't know what jamón is I will explain.. Jamón, (pronounced haMON) is basically dried pig legs. The longer they hang to dry, the better the jamón. I personally think it has quite a strong flavour, I can't really describe it, it's kinda the spanish version of proscuitto. But I don't like it!
Anyways, so the pig legs basically just HANG in the stores where they sell jamón, in neat rows and just all over the place. There is even a Museo del Jamón!! Jesus..

So the past few days, looking in the supermarkets etc, I saw that they basically have EVERYTHING jamón flavoured. LOOK! PRINGLES! I think that's funny :D

This is the jamón hanging from the ceiling!!!! Oh the horror.

Another thing is.. coronas! They are called Coronitas! Why, you ask? Because it's Spain! Hahaha, everything as we know it will have a different name or design here.

The next thing is not strange and I'm not complaining AT ALL. But oh my god, these mojitos we had last weekend are the size of my head! Seriously. You can get them at this tapas bar called El Tigre for 6 euros. That's a pretty sick deal. The bar itself is very spanish. First of all it's PACKED with people and everyone's standing up! I thought that was so strange, and then the little asian waiter had to go through this crowd to get peoples orders. That was pretty funny.

The next thing... Wine in a box! And not just any box, a juice carton! Haha, for 54 cents that's pretty awesome. It didn't taste as bad as I'd expected actually, so that will come in handy, I'm sure ;)

The last thing... NUNS! They are seriously everywhere, I think that's pretty weird. And they're always walking in small groups and sending everyone evil looks. Blah, that's not really my thing..

Wow okay, that was alot of info at once. I'll go face the screaming kids now, god this night should be fun. And tommorrow there's a slumber party.. right next to my room! I don't think I'll be going home.

Yawn

Goodmorning.. I hate that i have to get up at 7.30, my body is programmed to sleep until noon!! At least I can go back to bed after breakfast. Today the weather is SHIT, its foggy and it could rain any minute.. that's not the Spain I like!

I have recently discovered some cozy new roomates I've gotten.. ANTS! What the fucking hell, I mean they're even in my bed! I freaked out, but the family was like: "Yeah, it's because spring is coming". HUH!? I don't think that's normal, but at least they're not cockroaches, ugh..

Anyways, I just found out I have the whole day off tommorrow - WIN!? Haha, I'm so excited that I can stay in Madrid past 5 o'clock. I really should go see more of the city, but I've been too lazy and only hangning around Sol, in like a 500m radius from my school haha.
The not so great news are, I think I'm getting sick, but not really. It's strange. One day I'm fine, the next I'm hurting all over. Something weird is going on here, hm.

Shit okay, I have to go in like 20mins.

Peace

Bienvenidos ;)

Holaaa, right I'll just write in english - my spanish is still crap.
I really hope I improve it, otherwise this is a waste of time.. oh well.. Madrid is awesome, I've been here a week now and its great. SO crowded and so so loud, which is wayy different from quiet little Denmark. Which by the way NOT so many people know about here in Spain!? haha! That's a little annoying..
Anyways. I've already met some amazing people, none of them spanish though. I'm actually improving my english more than I am my spanish, but its a start ;)

I live in a place called Las Rozas, like 20mins from the centre of Madrid. It's a pretty cool, very quiet though and pretty fancy. I never see people on my street everyone's just rushing to their cars and blocking my path, hm..

This is my street. El Encinar de Las Rozas. Now go stalk me on google maps.
It reminds me of Wisteria Lane, it's a bit creepy actually..

This is my friend Paula. She's awesome even though she is british ;). I am beginnig to understand her more and more as the days go by. I know that tea time means dinner and that wellies are RAIN BOOTS! hahah, I think that's pretty funny :) Anyways, we go to the same school and take the bus home together everyday. That's cool. We are also both major Burger King suckers.

This is me at Puerta del Sol, on a sunny sunny day. I'm eating a Napolitana filled with cheesy goodness haha. People were looking a bit strange at me while walking by, maybe i was eating it wrong..

That's all for now, I better sleep a VERY long day awaits. (all days is Spain are insanely long, its crazy) but yeah.. be back soon :)
