Busy Busy

I'm lacking sleep! My mom was here this weekend and we walked around Madrid sooo much, my legs are DEAD. I haven't slept properly in 4 days. She left yesterday and everything is back to normal again, and it's tiring haha! I stayed with my mom at her hotel in Argüelles (walking distance to Sol, YES!), and it was really nice. I was amazed at just the breakfast - MINI HAMBURGERS! Hahah, and tons and tons of other things, that was definitely the best part.

We went to visit the Santiago Barnabéu stadium, oohhh my god i loved it. I'm a Real Madrid fan but now I love them even more. It was HUGE and inside was like a museum with pictures, old jerseys and trophees. It was really amazing and I got a picture with Casillas! ;) Fake, of course haha..

The weather was not that great most of the time so we sat at alot of cafées and had tea. I've never done that before here in Madrid, everyone seems to be drinking coffee. But we went to this really old café in Bilbao, Café Commercial. It has existed for a houndred years and used to be a meeting place for the anti-Franco army during the Civil War. Interesting, right? It was pretty nice inside, but definitely a more grown-up kind of place if you ask me. But they had wifi, hey.

Today I've been driving all day. School in the morning, pick Maria up from school in the afternoon, the gym etc etc. I'm getting better at driving over here haha. I'm not that scared anymore, but I still pray to God everytime that I don't hit another car.

Ok, time for 2nd grade math homework now. Woop woop.

19 years old!

Monday was my birthday!!! Feliz cumple a mí! I am now 19, wow. I know it's not alot but its still a year older. I had a great day - got a Hello Kitty pyjamas from my host-family, ate lots of chocolate, then went for chinese, then had RED CAKE (YUM), and went out to celebrate in the evening! Pretty aweome :)

Aaahhhh

Almost friday, which means weekend and birthday celebration on Saturday!! Woop woop, we're gonna go to Independance - I've never been but it better be good! The weather is changing again, today was 17 degrees. After class I took the metro randomly again to explore a little bit. Got off at Goya (Line 2) and walked around for a bit and took the metro back to Sol from Velazquéz (Line 4, no idea if it's spelled correctly). Anyways, it's a very nice neighbourhood with alot of shops, reminded me alot of Argüelles. Wasted like a whole hour in Zara instead of being out in the sun, and later another 2 hours in McDonald's with Essi haha. Good times.

Made pancakes with Maria last night. She got so excited when I asked her if she liked pancakes.. ''YEEEESSS, can we make them now!?" So we did. I found a recipe that made a whole lot but I didn't have the energy to do the math and only make a third of it so we ended up with alottt of pancakes. They don't have any normal measuring cups in the house (!?) so I used some kind of plastic cup that's meant for washing powder I think haha. It had some measurings in "cc", whatever that is.. But they turned out fine!

We were stuffed after that.. too much nutella, syrup, jam and honey, oh my. Maria had them again for breakfast and even took one to school for lunch! Guess this means they were delicious ;)

Oh well

Stayed at home today, I'm still sick. Hopefully I can go to school tommorrow, I hate missing too many lessons at once. I just have a terrible cold, blah. I was talking to my host-mum last night and told her I was feeling bad, and she was just like "Ahh, your probably just depressed because your birthday is coming up and your getting old" ;) haha, funny. No, but the whole family has been really sweet and helpfull, this morning they left me a note and some medicine and tissues..

I've just been in bed for 2 days straight and I really hate it. The only exercise I get is the short trip to the kitchen downstairs. I've been eating like crazy, but there's not much else to do around here haha. I watched 'Eat Pray Love' this morning, I liked it. I recommend it to everyone who loves traveling and wants to try new things. I could kinda relate to Liz, because it's the same thing I'm doing, being here in Spain. So yeah, good movie. I'm really bad at reviewing stuff if you can't tell.

Anyways. So my birthday is in one week exactly.. I still don't have any exact plans but I hope we'll arrange something soon! Also, my mom is coming to visit in 2 weeks. I don't feel like it's already been over a month since I last saw her, time just really flies down here :)

Just delightful

The weather was perfect again yesterday, nice and sunny. You can really feel spring is coming. Paula and I met up with Amber and two of her friends from England and after that we went to Taco Bell ;) again.. and yes, we might even go again today. Oops. We walked around for a bit in Bilbao and it's such a pretty and quiet place. Our plan is to go to as many unknown metro stations as possible, one a day at least haha, so we ended up at Quevedo (Line 2). That was interesting.. We got off at Argüelles before heading home and walked to Moncloa and it's so beautiful over there! Around Moncloa station people were sitting in the sun and relaxing, and we found this little spot on top of the main entrance which overlooked the Arco de la victoría.

It feels good soaking up all the vitamin D..

Winter in Denmark

Winter in Denmark.. Do I miss this? Hell no. Beautiful? Yes, sure - but hella cold!!! I really hate snow, I only want it on Christmas eve.

These were taken at a lake near my house. It all looks so peaceful and deserted. In summer this place is filled with children playing, people jogging and grilling.. it's lovely :) And there's tons of ducks that I love feed haha.

EXCITEMENT

Some will probably not understand this joy but me and Paula found a TACO BELL today!!!!!!!!! I am still freaking out, I didn't expect to see one in Madrid. Omg. We had just eaten pizza and wondered what to do for an hour, so we took the metro and randomly got off at Bilbao and then walked and saw THE SIGN. Taco Bell.. this way. 

AAAAHH we couldn't believe it. I love mexican food, as you can see from my previous posts about tacos, so I was super excited. We had JUST eaten, but we still ordered nachos (with spicy chicken, beans, cheese and sour cream YUM) and tacos and a quesidilla-thingy with nutella for dessert ;) They have all sorts of shit it was hard to choose. Fajitas, burritos, nachos, guacamole etc etc. HEAVEN! Maybe I'll go there for my birthday dinner hahaha. Birthday in 11 days YAY! I feel old..

Peaceful times

Ahh today was nice. The weather has again changed to warm and we ate hot dogs in the sun. Everything was also nice and quiet at home - played basketball with Maria and then on her piano-thingy haha. She got mad because I could actually memorize the songs she showed me. She has to win at everything, god.. Other than that things are good, dinner is cooking and the cat is sleeping. Nice and quiet.

This cat slept in my bed the whoooole day while I was at school haha, I had to wake her up when I came home so I could sit on my bed!

Now Maria's friend is here again, they want me to play hide and seek in the dark. I told them I had an emergency and went to my room haha, but they keep coming in every 30secs to check if I'm ready. I really don't have the energy!! 

Today I got my test back from school - I am now OFFICIALLY level 2 woohoo!! It's nice to actually know I've learned something. Oh and it's my 1 month anniversary! AND my birthday is in 2 weeks! Man, I can't complain at the moment :) I better go hide under the bed now..

Hungover

Today was mostly spent in bed. Didn't wanna get up until like 3 o'clock. Made chinese noodles. They were delicious. Me and a bunch of girls went out last night, had a great time - but now, not so great.. haha. We went to El Tigre again and this Irish/English? pub bar thingy which was pretty cool. We got free mojitos and shots and people were all dressed up because of the carnival. Pretty bad costumes though. Anyways then after that we went to this club Moondance, which was of course packedddd. Fortunalely we got free VIP entries again this time (thanks Mel), so it was all good.

At 5 me and Paula finally decided to get out of bed and head towards Kfc and McD! We met up with Amber and just chilled at Kfc for like an hour haha. Checked out all the asians. Long story.. After that me and Paulita bought Oreo McFlurryyyy's and headed home. I ate almost both of them so now I feel bad. Oh well ;) It's a price worth paying.

Now there are TONS of people in the house. Screaming children and loud adults, I can't even sleep because they are so loud :( bastards..Who invites loads of guests with little children over on a Sunday night??

!!!!!!

WHY are spanish people SO LOUD?? I mean.. MY family is loud trust me, the greek language cannot be spoken quietly haha, but this is seriously extreme. It's not only when they talk, but when they open and close doors, or cook or when they are emptying the dishwasher oohh myy.. Every movement is just so loud, in the morning when Maria's parents come to wake her up it sounds like an army of crazy dogs. It's insane :D

Just this moment, they've put on music downstairs.. not the usual Beyoncé haha, but classical music this time, and I swear to god it couldn't be any louder! I hear everything loud and clear up on the 3rd floor.. I mean do they have a problem hearing? Or what's the deal with the super loud opera music!

I'm starting to get used to it though, but still not the best thing in the mornings to be woken up by the Disney Channel blasting throughout the whole house ;)

I'll cover my head with my pillow now and have my siesta.

Sweatpants love

Hot or just plain uglyyy? haha, Paua says they're night pants but they are not!! I wanna wear them all the time, but I haven't seen people in Spain wearing them, like they do back home :( Maybe I could start a new trend. Or risk being labeled a freak.

At least I'll be a comfortable freak.

Ahh friday..

I love that the days go by so fast down here. It's friday already, I feel like it was monday 2 days ago! 

Last night it SNOWED!!! and now the garden is covered in snow AARGHH! Fortunately it's not that much - like what I'm used to - but it still sucks. It's march for fucks sake :( I don't wanna go to school but we have en exam today to see if we'll pass to the next level so I better go.. Didn't sleep much; the cat slept in my bed again, and she is seriously impossible to move. She's so fat and she was already asleep when I came up, so I had like one third of the bed to sleep in because she was all stretched out, stupid cat haha.. and she snores, wtf?

A few days ago Maria begged me to straighten her hair so I did. Look how pretty :)

It's so cute how excited she gets haha she is so sweet.. but evil at times :( If things don't go her way she can get really pissed, so I just do what she says mostly haha.. not worth fighting.

Anyways, I can FINALLY use my Abono (bus pass thingy).. I bought it almost 2 weeks ago but I couldn't use it until March, that was so lame. You can only use it from the start of each month, not whenever you buy it, like I'm used to. Hm. It's also kinda strange how big it is and you only use the little ticket thing at the bottom, so you have to take it out everytime and stick it in the machine.. It's a bit annoying.

Taco thursday

New tradition in our little group.. taco thursday! Or just any day really.. we went there today, we couldnt wait till thursday ;) They are just so good! The place is called Taqueria mi Ciudad - Sabor de Mexico, and they have 2 restaurants almost next to each other. (c/ Fuentes & c/ Hileras) One of them is TINY though..

They're only 1,50 euro and they have margaritas, coronas and all sorts of other stuff. Oh, guacamole! Bue i haven't tried that yet.. My favourite are the carnitas and the pulled pork ones which I forgot the name of. They're yum. And with the salsa and purple onions on top it's amazinggggg.. 

I'm going back on thursday.
